The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) includes the ability for government to create standards providing codified requirements to ensure that people with disabilities are able to use all forms of public transport and their associated facilities effectively.

The resultant Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards) consequently undergo a five year review process with one currently underway. The aim of the review is to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the Standards with submissions now being accepted from stakeholders until 26 April 2013.

To view the current Standard, and further information on the terms of reference of the review visit http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/transport/disabilities/review/2012.aspx.
